Traditional Ayurvedic Therapies

Traditional Ayurvedic therapies realign body wisdom with nature’s intelligence.

This comprehensive science was developed to remedy specific health conditions and diseases. With the goal of radiant health in mind, these therapies are based upon the elements of earth (herbs, clays), fire (heat, warmth), water (oils, steam), air (breath), and spirit (intent, meditation, prayer). Traditional Ayurvedic therapies restore a state of balance and health. They promote deep purification and detoxification, deep relaxation, stress release, and rejuvenation to help you achieve ongoing wellness.

Traditional Ayurvedic therapies are specially designed for your constitution. Your ongoing comprehensive wellness program with Traditional Ayurvedic therapies can be experienced individually for relaxation, renewal, and disease prevention to establish and maintain balance. These therapies are the basis for Panchakarma (Ayurvedic cleansing and renewal) and can be customized into a longer Panchakarma program to help you reach your optimal health and wellness goals.

Abhyanga, also known as Snehan, is closely connected to Sneha, the Sanskrit word for love. Therefore, Abhyanga in its truest sense is to be saturated with pure love.
Abhyanga is Ayurveda’s classic massage. Warm herbal oils, customized according to individual constitution, are luxuriously poured over the skin and massaged head to foot, ensuring deep penetration of oil throughout the layers of the skin. This purifying and nourishing therapy dislodges toxins, stimulates circulation and immunity, balances the nervous system, and promotes relaxation. Abhyanga includes karma purna (oiling the ears) as well as a warm oil scalp massage. Abhyanga is a core component of Pancha Karma (Ayurvedic cleansing and renewal) and is often recommended on a daily basis as a part of a cleansing program.
Although traditionally in India, Abhyanga is done by two therapists, at Prakrti, Abhyanga is experienced by one therapist working alone.
