Meet Nikki

Welcome to Prakrti!

My favorite translation interprets the Sanskrit word “Prakrti” as the natural condition or state of anything. In individuals, Prakrti is one’s underlying characteristic, physical and mental constitution and tendencies of expression. Prakrti is comprised of eight elements: earth, water, fire, air, space, mind, intellect, and ego. When all of these are balanced and in perfect harmony, an individual finds peace and ease within his or her own TRUE Nature. My eclectic, intuitive style of teaching is designed to bring harmony into each of the eight elements and to encourage each student to recognize, accept, and honor his/her body exactly where it is today. I encourage each student to recognize and connect with his own truth, her own true nature. Hence the name of the studio: Prakrti.

This is the home of Yoga For Your True Nature.

I’m happy you are here. Let me tell you a little about me so you can choose if I’m a good fit for you! If I’m not, I’ll happily refer you to another teacher better suited to your needs!

I have been practicing Yoga for 20+ years, which has enabled me to develop a great understanding of both its physical and emotional benefits. Yoga has seen me through eating disorders, and other tough times such as divorce and single parenting, stress and anxiety, chronic illnesses such as migraines, chronic body pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, and grief.

My teachers, past and current, include BKS Iyengar, Cindy Dollar, Judith Hanson Lasater, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Dr. Kate Flynn, Donna Eden, Ram Das, and Reggie Ray. I am always eager to learn more, therefore immersing myself in home study, workshops, and Continuing Education Intensives. I am also an active member of international Ayurveda and Yoga communities from which I draw inspiration and feel the interconnectedness of like-minded souls all over the world.

I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance, which acknowledges the completion of a Yoga Teacher Training with a Registered Yoga School (RYS). I earned my first 200 hour certification at Glowing Body Healing & Arts, and I am continuing my education along the therapeutically aligned yoga path. I also hold certification as an Ayurveda Yoga Teacher, and I have almost completed studies required of an Ayurvedic Practitioner diploma through Yoga Veda Institute

As an E-RYT 200, I provide continuing education workshops to RYTs and am qualified as  Lead Trainer of  200-hour teacher trainings for RYS 200. I’m also a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP®), recognized as an expert in the following of Yoga Alliance’s Educational Categories:

  • Techniques, Training & Practice
  • Teaching Methodology
  • Anatomy & Physiology
  • Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle & Ethics

Often my attunement to Pure Energy (similar to Reiki) is included during private sessions and yoga class sessions. Pure Energy Therapy enables energetic frequencies to create what is needed and to destroy what is no longer beneficial to my clients. Pure Energy is the most effective of energy healing modules to bring total balance into the chakras and into the body as deep as the cellular level.

Meditation has always been an imperative practice for me, and I am excited to offer sessions focusing on somatic awareness, pranayama, mantra, and mindfulness practices.

Dancing Spider Yoga© is a program for kids and families. I get the warm fuzzies watching parents find balance and connection with their children through this program. Dancing Spider is beneficial to all kids, and especially effective to those with ADHD and on the Autism Spectrum. I also offer Hatha Yoga to both older and younger kids.

I enjoy customizing private practices to suit a student’s individual needs. I specialize in Ayurveda Yoga and yoga for stress and trauma, including emotional and physical ailments. I use my own life experiences and backgrounds in nursing and psychology as teaching and healing tools. I look forward to sharing Ayurveda and Yoga benefits by teaching in a safe, effective, alignment based way, while honoring the unique alignment of every body. I am prepared to lead classes or private sessions for students of all skill levels, experience, and body type by using props and modifications as needed.

I am dedicated to bringing Yoga off the mat and into daily life, and I cannot wait to connect with you!
