Yoga Classes

Come As You Are.

All Yoga classes are offered at Prakrti and within the Virtual Wellness Studio.

All Prakrti classes require registration due to limited space and my desire to make each session truly accessible to all participants. Registration allows me to make any necessary preparations for individuals who may need speical assistance for unique circumstances. Everyone is welcome at Prakrti. 



This Studio class includes a short, gentle yoga asana practice to help prepare your body for coming into stillness. Various styles of meditation will be explored. Meditation Exploration is for those who desire a calmer mind, better health and improved mood, as well as for those who wish to withdraw inward to develop a deeper relationship with his or her true nature. There will be opportunity to share and discuss experiences within the meditation community. No experience necessary.

Sunday 6:00 p.m.



Therapeutic Yoga enhances the effects of physical therapy by raising self-awareness which allows you to view pain from a different perspective. This class offers techniques from several lineages, and props allow you soften into each pose as you tone your core and develop strength all over, enhance stability and flexibility, reduce stress, connect with your breath, improve focus, and ease pressure in your joints. Monday & Wednesday 6:00 p.m.



Hatha Yoga is ‘the means of attaining a state of yoga through force’, and includes asana, pranayama, mantra, mudra, shatkriyas and shatkarmas and types of visualisation. Prakrti offers all aspects of Hatha Yoga in most classes, but a Hatha Yoga class at Olympia will typically involve a set of physical postures with focus on breath connection. Postures are practiced slowly with static holds more than found in Vinyasa or Ashtanga classes. Contact Olympia Athletic Club for more information.

Tuesday & Thursday 5:30 p.m.



This class consists of a series of long-held, passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body—the hips, pelvis, inner thighs, lower spine, penetrating deep into the connective tissues. Yin Yoga is for you if you are tired, over-stimulated, when your energy is too erratic, your mind overactive, whether you are craving for energy or you feel you have too much of it.

Classical Yoga is a complete system of Spiritual Knowledge coming from scriptures within the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and handed down by a lineage of teachers. It is universal and non-sectarian and can be practiced by all. Its multifaceted approach is meant to be practiced over a long time instead of assumed a quick fix. The goal of Classical Yoga is Peace and Self-Realization. The teachings within this class are meant to be selfless, to ensure the purity of the practice.

Tuesday 7:00 p.m.



This is for the beginner who isn’t comfortable in a mixed level class. We focus on fundamental poses, using props to explore different variations and developing a new level of body awareness and connection to breath. Here we realize our bodies are uniquely made and begin to understand that yoga is more than a one size fits all type of exercise. Instead it’s a unique, holistic practice tailored to each person who comes to the mat.

Veterans,
join us the first Saturday of every month at 10:00 a.m. for our Yoga 4 Vets Class in Maryville with TEAM RWB.
This class is open to all Veterans, and all yoga levels are welcome.
– You must fill out a waiver when attending your first class.

First Saturday of each month 10:00 a.m.

 



This Fifth Sunday Special class typically involves only five or six poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Poses are held 5 minutes or more, and include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends. Class will end with a guided Yoga Nidra to help promote even deeper rest.
